“He brings together a great heritage of the past, but also something very fresh and new.” – Jamie Cullum
The Dominic J. Marshall trio is led by Dominic John Marshall, a pianist, composer and beatmaker from Wiltshire, England. After studying classical piano for 10 years with his father Mark Marshall, Dominic was granted the Alan Hawkshaw scholarship to study jazz at Leeds College of Music. He was accepted accepted on the Master course at Conservatorium van Amsterdam and was lucky enough to receive guidance from the likes of Kurt Rosenwinkel, Brad Mehldau and Ambrose Akinmsuire. He graduated Cum Laude in May 2012 with a 10 and was awarded “Best International Jazz Album 2012” by the highly-esteemed Japan-based blog TokyoJazzNotes for his second trio CD “Icaros”.
Sharing a predilection for improvisation among a wide variety of genres, the trio combines jazz, classical music, hiphop, soul, folk and everything in between making them an ideal SXNF act.
